Sharing triple meaning of lucky food for Chinese New Year

2024-02-07

In this eve of Chinese New Year, Food Commons Foundation continued to join hands with the district partnering teams to accept food donation. One of the food donator, a department of Hong Kong Monetary Authority donated a batch of meaningful chocolates to our district partnering team, Women Service Association to distribute to the members in the neighbourhood to share the festive joy.

Chocolates are so meaningful? Yes, it is because this batch of chocolates are handmade by a group of S.E.N. teenagers, who are dedicated to look for opportunities of setting up their own businesses, to achieve self-reliance, and develop more pathways with the society. The donator donated all the leftover Chinese New Year gifts after sending to their staff to share with those in need. Starting from the food procurement that already rendered their support to the people with special education needs, now they avoid the wastage and share the festive joy with members in the neighbourhood, such action is having triple meaning. Thanks a lot! We always welcome those not beyond the best before dates and unopened food. Let’s having a festive holiday without wastage and cherishing the food. It is still acceptable to donate the food after Chinese New Year while most of the district centres will be opened on the tenth day of Lunar New Year.
